c. 1920s/1930s; mfd. by Fred E. Gilbert Co. for use in Pacific Northwest stores
Vintage lighted sign advertising sanitary dairy.
This sign came about at a time when food safety regulations were still in their infancy (pun intended). Due to the rudimentary regulations in place, infant dairy needed extra precautions taken to ensure it was free of any germs or microorganisms.
The signs would have been displayed in the storefront of a grocery or other marketplace to signal that particular store had a stock for those who needed it.
Exhibits minor signs of wear including delamination on the foil stroke around the letters and small scratches that are most visible on the black background. Rewired in-shop.
